The latest smell in the “acclaimed Bentley for Men Range” is called Silverlake and it “explores the fresh and energising territory of the great outdoors.” Of course it does.
We were going to question who exactly has “acclaimed” the range of Bentley aromas, although then we went onto Amazon and found that, amazingly, the Bentley For Men Intense fragrance gets a whopping 4.4/5 average score from buyers, including Mr. Campbell, who calls it “boozy, deep and classy.” Mr. Campbell may or may not be Ron Burgundy.
Anyways, we can’t tell you whether this new fragrance is as classy or deep as that one, but we can furnish you with some of the words that Bentley has used to describe it. They make total sense, as you can imagine. So, the base note is musk, obviously – this isn’t a body spray for teenagers, after all – accompanied by some “ambery woods”. Yes indeed.
At the “heart” is lavender essence, pink pepper essence and violet leaf, and the all-important top notes are lemon sfuma essence (us neither) and more peppermint.
Bentley’s description of the olfactory orgasm you’ll have upon sniffing this concoction goes as follows:
“The scent opens with a rush of ice-cool notes, as lemon and peppermint essences blend to create the effect of a gust of pure, invigorating mountain air.
“As the heart of the fragrance unfolds, the green, moist-earth accents of violet leaf absolute evoke a majestic forest, touched by the frosty bite of pink pepper essence. The cool sheen of lavender hints at the silver water of a lake, reflecting the clear blue sky.
“Boosting these bracing accords, a powerful blend of ambery woods carried by a breeze of pure white musk give the scent its crisp, modern, long-lasting trail.”
Or as your mum might put it: “Ooh, it’s quite nice that…what is it?” And then you’ll be forced to say that you’re wearing Bentley. Like the car. And then there’ll be frowning.
There is, of course, the issue of the container too. Bentley wasn’t going to let us get away with just calling it “a bottle”. Here goes then:
“An iconic bottle, reinvented in ice-cool silver, designed to reflect the lines and curves of a Bentley car, the rounded form of the For Men bottle takes on a sleek new elegance with Silverlake, reflecting the cool accords of the new fragrance.
“Lacquered in silver, the lozenge-shaped body of the flacon becomes as reflective as the mirrored surface of a mountain lake, half-transparent, half-opaque like its crystalline waters. Its surface echoes the polished silver metal shoulders of the bottle, embossed with the striking Bentley emblem. The silver cap is ringed with Bentley’s signature knurling.”
Don’t go anywhere yet though, because even the box gets the full accompanying word salad:
“The sky-blue box reprises the motif at the top, with a band of textured blue knurling. Hot-stamped in silver, black and white, the Bentley emblem seems to soar over the name of the scent, inscribed in silver against the blue background.”
£70 is costs for this. Yep. Bye then.
