In this article:
Is the Bentley Continental a good car?
Bentley is renowned for its quality and premium craftsmanship and it is no different in the Continental. Considering how the Continental combines luxurious comfort, performance and practicality, it is indeed a good car.
Who is the Bentley Continental a good car for?
The Bentley Continental is a good car for individuals or couples that want a vehicle that both exudes style and luxury while still remaining a high-performance model for spirited weekend drives.
Is the Bentley Continental a good first car?
If the price is not a hurdle, the Bentley Continental will serve a first-time car buyer well. We would, however, recommend an advanced driving course for inexperienced drivers before exploiting the full potential of the powerful engine.
Is the Bentley Continental a good family car?
Although the Bentley Continental does offer seating for four occupants, the rear occupants might get a little cramped on longer journeys. If you are in the market for a Bentley that would suit the needs of your family, we recommend the Bentayga.
Is there a Hybrid Bentley Continental?
At the time of writing this article, a hybrid variant of the Continental is not yet available. However, the British marque did announce that they are developing plug-in hybrid powertrains for the near future.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
There is quite a lot of performance available in the GT Speed, as you might imagine. The twin-turbocharged W12 engine produces 485kW and 900Nm of torque which is sent through all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Despite a 2 273kg kerb weight, with launch control enabled, the Speed will sprint to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds while its top speed is rated at 335 km/h. This was our first experience of the famed W12 engine, and despite the mountain of torque and impressive elasticity, we found ourselves wanting more in terms of engine sound, even if it was only more aurally pleasing in Sport mode and toned-down in the other modes.

What is the Bentley Continental like inside?
As standard, clients can expect Walnut veneers to adorn the centre console, and dashboard and extend onto the door cards, however, as can be expected from a luxury brand such as Bentley, metal open-pore woods and even carbon fibre can be commissioned. The seats, soft-touch areas and door cards also see full leather cladding in a variety of colours with contrast piping, stitching and embroidering.
Style
The Continental incorporates a timeless grand tourer design with the long bonnet, quickly rising and then sloping roof and strong shoulder line. The wheel wells are filled with 21-inch wheels which optionally come in a variety of styles and colours. Bentley not only created a modern-looking model but has captured elements from Bentley cars of the past and incorporated them with a modern interpretation. In short, the design of the Continental are timeless, elegant and yet sporty.
