Peugeot has been present in the bakkie segment since 1938 when they launched a flatbed vehicle derived from the 202. Now the bakkie with the lion badge has returned with modernized upgrades and intuitive tech. The Landtrek seems ready to be included in all bakkie conversations as it proves itself to be worthy of going against the top contenders.

With a high beltline and ground clearance of up to 235 mm, the Landtrek can tackle wading of 600 mm, thanks to the 19-inch wheels. With all the fundamentals of the bakkie world, The Peugeot is also available in two engine options which are a 1,9-litre diesel delivering 110 kW of power and 350 N.m of torque and a turbocharged 2,4-litre four-cylinder engine with 154 kW of power and 320 N.m of torque.
The former will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and the latter will also have the option of a six-speed auto. The entry-level versions of the Landtrek will have to make do with rear-wheel drive, while the more expensive derivatives will include all-wheel drive, with 4H and 4L modes for improved traction on arduous terrains.

Inside the cabin, depending on trim, the Landtrek can be equipped more for a working environment or leisure. With a touch-screen infotainment display in the middle of the dashboard and a TFT screen in the instrument cluster that comes as standard, including dual-zone climate control, USB ports, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The brand’s specifications imposed a robust design so that the new Peugeot Landtrek is functional and enduring while being well-suited for outdoor leisure activities without any compromise on reliability. The exterior design is imposing with an assertive personality. It incorporates the brand’s current design language, with a vertical grille featuring the Lion in the centre while vertical LED light signatures flank it.
Styled to be in line with other cars presently manufactured by Peugeot, the Landtrek is available as a chassis cab, single cab or double cab, Workhorse or Multipurpose versions.
