The SP48 Unica gets its own unique body panels and drops the rear window for a very special Ferrari client.

Buy enough cars from Ferrari, and the company will eventually make you one of your own. The SP48 Unica, a one-off model based on the F8 Tributo, is the latest in a long line of one-off specials built for especially important Ferrari customers. While its mechanicals are identical to the F8’s, the entire body, as well as the exterior lighting, are all new.
Sharing the F8’s drivetrain means the SP48 gets a 710-hp, 568 lb-ft 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 that itself was lifted from the stunning 488 Pista. Power gets to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch transmission. There’s no word on performance numbers, but we don’t doubt the Unica will be able to match, or even exceed the F8’s 2.8-second 0-60 time and 211-mph top speed.
That’s because Ferrari actually took its time developing the SP48’s new body to improve aerodynamics over the F8. The streamlined front end and elongated rear paired with tighter intake paths mean a 12 percent reduction in drag over the F8. The headlights and taillights have been totally redesigned, as has the front grille, which now features 3D-printed components. It’s clear Ferrari didn’t just slap some new panels on an F8 and call it a day. Some real development took place here.
Though Ferrari hasn’t shared any pictures of the SP48’s interior, the company says the cabin is covered in matte carbon fiber with “Grigio Canna de Fucile” accents. We suspect the inside can’t be much different than your run-of-the-mill F8.
Ferrari says this car was designed for a long-standing client who was “deeply involved in every step of its creation.” Of course, Ferrari has not shared the name of said client, or even where in the world the car will be headed. Like most Ferrari one-offs, we expect the Unica to stay tucked away in a climate-controlled garage until the owner is ready to sell it for a hefty profit.
