In the legendary words of out former Minister of Works, Samy Vellu… “Ini semua kerja orang gila punya.” So, automotive illustrator Theottle might not be a mad man but his latest creation is definitely the work of the deranged and we love every aspect for it.
Nope, it’s definitely not a typo; the Dodge Gila. Theottle has gone ahead and rendered what a Dodge version of the gorgeous Alfa Romeo Giulia would look like.
Afterall, rebadging is common practice under large automotive conglomerates and Stellantis is no different. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale will be rebadged as the Dodge Hornet so why wouldn’t the badge engineering be extended to other, more problematic popular models?
Now while the westerners didn’t quite get the joke and assumed Theottle was referring to the slow-moving Gila monster native to the US, we Malaysians know better.
For reference sake, this is the front of the real Dodge Charger…
Working his magic, Theottle fuses the face and derriere of the much larger Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat onto the ends of the Giulia. In reality, the Giulia is a much more compact sedan than the Charger so theoretical sales wouldn’t be cannibalised.
The current Giulia is underpinned by the Giorgio platform that has since served as the base for the larger Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the upcoming Maserati Grecale SUV.
… and this is the rear. It's mostly the glasshouse and doors that gives away the illustration.
In fact, the Dodge Gila could serve as a compact sedan for the marque in markets that still possess a thriving hunger for that body style.
Hell, they could even make a high-performance version based on the fire-breathing Giulia Quadrifoglio. That would likely be called the Gila SRT Hellcat but we think Gila Monster sounds a bit more appropriate.
Thank you for making this article even funnier than it already was.
