The Audi A4 Range In Malaysia

When Audi Malaysia launched the Audi A4 late last year, announcing 3 variants for our market, only 1 variant (the 2.0 TFSI) had official pricing. The remaining 1.4 TFSI and the 2.0 TFSI quattro variants were made available subsequently, earlier this year. And now, Audi Malaysia is on a quest to give the market a taste of the A4 range (including the 2.0 TFSI Tech pack trim) through its IntenCity roadshow.

The first IntenCity roadshow was held at Setia Alam last week and the subsequent ones will be held in Ipoh (4 June 2017) and Penang (10 June 2017). This is a family-friendly roadshow and Audi Malaysia encourages those interested to attend to register yourselves at www.audi.com.my prior to the event.

The entry-level Audi A4 1.4 is equipped  with a 1.4 liter engine and 7-speed S tronic wet dual clutch transmission that develops 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is timed at 8.5 seconds while official average fuel consumption (combined cycle) is 5.2 liters per 100 km.

There are just a few distinctive differences to the more expensive A4 variants and its chiefly the use of the xenon plus headlamps (with LED daytime running lights), halogen tail lamps instead of full LED units and the 10-spoke cast aluminum 17″ wheels. The cabin is nearly identical to the 2.0 TFSI except for the steering wheel (which nonetheless still gets paddle shifters).

Also standard for all variants are headlamp washers, Parking System Plus with selective display, 3-zone climate control, leather upholstery (the quattro gets an leather/Alcantara combi), powered front seats with 4-way lumbar support, 40:20:40 split folding rear seat, MMI Radio Plus with 10 speakers, drive information color display, Audi drive select, keyless entry, start/stop system, cruise control and light/rain sensors.

On the safety side, all the A4s are packed with 6 airbags, Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC), tire pressure warning light, hold assist, electrically assisted child lock, ISOFIX points, multi-collision brake assist and pop-up bonnet for pedestrian protection.

Meanwhile, the A4 2.0 TFSI Tech pack is targeted at the tech buff with the Audi virtual cockpit, Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic turn indicators, Audi smartphone interface for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, Audi Connect and reverse camera.

Powering this A4 is the 2 liter TFSI engine with 190 hp and 320 Nm (between 1,450 and 4,200 rpm) going to the front wheels via the 7-speed S tronic gearbox. 0 – 100 km/h is 7.3 seconds while average fuel consumption is 5 liters per 100 km.

Right at the top of the pile is the more performance oriented Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro, which uses an up-rated 2.0 liter TFSI engine developing 252 hp and a maximum 370 Nm of torque with Audi’s legendary quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The 0 – 100 km/h sprint is done in 5.8 seconds and it consumes 5.9 liters per 100km on a combined driving cycle.

Dressed in the S line package as standard, the Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro has sportier front and rear bumpers, 18” 5-twin-spoke ‘Star’ design cast aluminum wheels, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch, sports front seats, Alcantara upholstery, matte brushed aluminum inlays, Audi smartphone interface for Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Audi Connect and reverse camera. It also gets a 58 liter fuel tank instead of 54 liters in the other variants.

The 2 liter A4s are also fitted with adaptive comfort suspension with damping control.

The Audi A4 1.4 TFSI, comes in 7 color options – Glacier White, Floret Silver, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Monsoon Grey, Argus Brown, as well as Mythos Black and starts at RM 218,900.

The Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Tech pack also come with the same color options as above and costs an additional RM 25,000 over the standard retail price of RM 248,900, bringing it to RM 273,900.

The range-topping Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro also gets 7 colors but trades Argus Brown for Daytona Grey. It is priced at RM 314,900.

The Audi A4 1.4 TFSI, A4 2.0 TFSI Tech pack and A4 2.0 TFSI quattro are available at all authorized Audi dealerships nationwide (if you can’t make it to the IntenCity venues), with special introductory prices of RM 199,900, RM 249,900 and RM 294,900 respectively, while stocks last.

All Audi A4 variants are covered by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
