If the Dodge Challenger is your ideal car, you might want to consider another model year before you make your purchase. Unfortunately, Consumer Reports doesn’t recommend the 2022 Dodge Challenger.
To start, drivers were having difficulty seeing out of this vehicle. Another downfall of the all-new Challenger? Some of the higher performance models have a stiffer ride and can feel “bulky.” Additionally, the manual shifter is also on the stiff side, which isn’t ideal for fast driving.
The 2022 Challenger isn’t a bad car, though. The V8 engine is sturdy and still gives you that classic rev sound enthusiasts know and love. The backseat is more spacious than some of its competitors, like the Ford Mustang. All models come standard with the Uconnect infotainment system that’s easy to use.

Overall, the road test results were good. Since the Dodge Challenger can travel 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, the acceleration category received a perfect rating. Braking also scored the same, which is important when you own a car that is big on performance.
Fuel economy and emissions are two categories where this new car didn’t shine. The fuel economy and the smog ratings were poor.
Elsewhere, the comfort/convenience categories were average across the board. Front seat comfort ranked high, while ride and noise both were average.

If you’re set on not getting a Dodge sedan but rather a coupe like the 2022 Dodge Challenger, you should go for the Hemi V8 option. Its 5.7-liter engine is impressive, and it’s certainly worth the investment.
If you’re second-guessing driving this new car, other options may be better for you. The 2022 Toyota Supra and the 2022 Porsche 718 Boxster are recommended by Consumer Reports. Both sports cars received a high overall ranking. The 718 Boxster scored a near-perfect score on its road test and received a perfect predicted owner satisfaction rating. The GR Supra isn’t too far behind, with a similar road test score and a near-perfect predicted owner satisfaction rating.
Other good options include the 2022 BMW Z4 and 2022 Audi TT. Both received modest rankings and are recommended by Consumer Reports. The BMW Z4 scored highly in the road test and got a near-perfect score in the predicted owner satisfaction ratings. As for the Audi TT? It scored high in the road test section and had an average predicted owner satisfaction rating.
