Similar design cues on the front end to the existing M3 and M4.
The M3 Touring will employ the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine which is good for 375 kW and 650 N.m.

We can’t be the only ones to think that the new M3 Touring took inspiration from the clownshoe!
Sporty wagons are infinitely cooler than their diminutive siblings and the teased BMW M3 Touring is no different. The latest Bavarian wagon has been teased on video before its alleged Q3 debut and we think it looks strikingly similar to the clownshoe M coupe.

Being the first official M3 Touring Wagon offered by BMW, it will demonstrate if there is a market for more practical performance saloons but don’t expect the latest creation from the German brand to sacrifice any performance capability.

Rumours of the M3 Touring powertrain have circulated stating it will employ the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine which is good for 375 kW and 650 N.m. The wagon is reportedly set to use the Competitive xDrive drivetrain which means that the eight-speed automatic gearbox will deliver the power to all four wheels. There is no indication if there will be a rear-wheel-drive model or one that comes with a clutch pedal and manual shifter.
The latest BMW promotional video which features the wagon still has it donned in the same camouflage from when it was spied a few weeks ago. This time around the M3 Touring emerges from a troop of galavanting M models in eerie looking landscapes with snowy terrain flanking the road.

We speculate that it is still covered in camouflage because the model’s launch coincides with the 3 series mid-cycle refresh. If the spied 3 series facelift is anything to go by, it will fortunately dodge the unbecoming grille.
A contrasting photo teased of the rear three-quarter view without any camouflage shows the latest Touring model with a similar aesthetic to the unique looking clownshoe M coupe.

We can expect to see the latest addition to BMW’s portfolio around Q3 of this year since the M3 Touring began its two-year development journey in mid-2020. While everything is still under wraps, we are still awaiting news confirming if the wagon will be sold in the South African market but it is unlikely since our buying patterns prefer SUVs over more practical sedans.
