One-off BMW sports car set to be unveiled at Italian classic car event and based on Z4 roadster
BMW has posted a fresh teaser of the one-off sports car it will unveil at the Concorso d’Eleganza d’Este at Lake Como, Italy, later this week.
Looking clearly like it’s based on the 2023 BMW Z4, the first glimpse of the unnamed concept was posted by BMW’s chief designer, Adrian van Hooydonk.
The senior BMW exec didn’t let slip anything specific about the show car, but Hooydonk has previously said the car-maker was working on an “elegantly, sporty one-off”.
Considering the location, the special new model is likely to pay homage to famous BMW road or race cars from its past.
As well as the BMW Z4-based sports car, the German brand’s performance division will also use the Concorso d’Eleganza to reveal a “very special BMW M car”.
Again, details are thin on the ground.
Coinciding with the glamourous reveals on the shores of Lake Como, BMW Films has also released a teaser for a new seven-minute short film called ‘The Calm’.
Following on from ‘The Hire’ series of eight short films released from 2001-2002, which stared Clive Owen, the new flick sees Pom Klementieff and Uma Thurman take the lead as a pair of secret agents.
Directed by the Extraction’s Sam Hargrave, the latest movie features a Hans Zimmer soundtrack and a BMW i7 limo equipped with the 31.2-inch Theatre Screen option.
It will premiere on May 17 at the Cannes film festival.
