Gran Turismo 7 released just over a week ago and its realistic graphics are not the only talking point of the latest racing simulator. Say hello to the silky smooth Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster but unfortunately it will only be enjoyed in a virtual format.

The British brand has released a series of virtual concepts that evoke the retro design aesthetic of the timeless Jaguar D-Type that enjoyed exceptional performance in the 1950s endurance racing scene. A familiar silhouette is shared by the silky smooth Jaguar Vision roadster with the front embracing a modernised grille and circular lights akin to that of its forefather. An angular light strip on the front haunches more similar to the LED DRL found in their production model does enable the concept a futuristic touch amidst the retro theme.

The roadster only offers seating on the right side for a single occupant who will be virtually immersed with a wraparound windshield once seated. Identical to that of its predecessor is a fin behind the cockpit which has the Union Jack etched onto it with LED illumination for when the sun goes down.

While it is electrically powered, the sound note from the 3.8-litre inline-six from the D-Type Long Nose that won the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans is used instead of the silent motors. Speaking of which, the three electric motors give it much more power than the fossil fuel powered archetype as a combined 750 kW and 1,200 N.m enable the all-wheel drive roadster to be catapulted to 100 km/h in less than two seconds and onto a top speed of 322 km/h.
GT7 also offers the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV to be driven in-game which debuted in December of 2020 and does exist outside of the virtual world as a sanctioned prototype.
The four-motor electric powertrain offers 1,400 kW and 3,360 N.m which enable it a 100 km/h sprint time in only 1.65 seconds onto its top speed of 410 km/h which is hard to believe with its massive wing and splitter.
