There is a supply chain issue hurting down under that’s starting to slam the new Ford Ranger. In order to keep production on track, 2023 Ford Ranger models will be produced without a few convenient features, which could delay the American model.

The new Ford Ranger hasn’t had the best rollout in Australia due to biohazard concerns and quality issues. Some customers may have to wait over a year for their models, and now a few features could be missing.
According to Ford Authority, the ongoing semiconductor shortage is causing a few standard and available options to be cut from the 2023 Ford Ranger lineup. Anti-theft motion sensors, an inclination sensor, and heated mirrors are being dropped.
The anti-theft sensor allows the truck to detect an occupant in the cabin while the doors are locked. The inclination sensor detects when the truck is being jacked up. Also, the heated mirrors are helpful for defrosting.
But the next-generation Ranger will have a proximity alarm that detects when the tailgate or doors are open while the truck is locked. This has been a popular feature with North American Ford models for years.
It’s currently unclear if these options will be added to the trucks once more semiconductor chips become available. But on a positive note, the semiconductor chip shortage is expected to ease up by the second half of the year.
When is the next-generation Ford Ranger coming to America?
The next-generation Ford Ranger should enter production in July and reach North American dealerships in the fall. The 2023 model is a carryover model, but the 2024 Ford Ranger will be redesigned.
However, the production dates are subject to change due to ongoing supply chain problems and rising inflation. The semiconductor chip shortage may cause the American Ford Ranger to get pushed back.
Production of the next-generation Ranger was supposed to begin in May, then April. Hopefully, things will stay on track for July. Ford hasn’t released when the new Ranger will be revealed in America.
We do good some good news while we wait, though. The new Ford Ranger Raptor wasn’t coming to America but has been added to the lineup. The North American version will be closely related to the global model.

The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor might be slightly different from the global model. In Australia, it cranks out 391 hp and 400 hp, but that engine might not meet emission standards in North America. Also, we could get a standard engine with 284 hp.
It rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and the suspension will probably include FOX live valve shocks. It could borrow skid plates from the Ford F-150 Raptor and steel bumpers.
There should be seven off-roading modes, hill descent control, and trail turn assist. It could get the one-pedal trail mode too, which acts as off-roading cruise control.
