Richmond resident Vincent Yu has become one of the first people to equip a Rolls-Royce with a Tesla electric powertrain but the four year project has come at a grave cost. His pursuit of perfection to achieve this goal not only required several years of his time but also considerable amounts of money, which resulted in giving up his house and his partner leaving him.
The reason behind this project’s costly fee was Yu’s unwavering hands on approach that saw him travel to Japan, Germany and the US to source the right parts for the conversion. With electrified powertrains and restomods becoming more commonplace in the automotive sector, Yu has also since opened up his own shop called Mars Power which puts the same knowledge and expertise in converting other ICE cars to EVs.

The shop located in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada also employs a small team of mechanics and artisans that perform the conversions on the vehicles.
