Rolls-Royce builds some of the most luxurious cars on Earth with these mobile palaces serving the world’s rich, famous, and even royal. However, the company is looking to the future by asking children to design their own Rolls-Royce of tomorrow. The competition has been extended to 1 June 2020 to help keep kids occupied during coronavirus lockdown.
If you are 16 or under, get your best colouring pencils ready! Rolls-Royce wants you to create your dream Rolls-Royce with no limitations. If you design a luxurious rocket-powered limo, get sketching and send your creation to the team at Goodwood. Designs can be submitted via a dedicated website built by Rolls-Royce.
The competition originally opened in April, but the boredom created by the ongoing coronavirus lockdown has spurred Rolls-Royce to extend the closing date. To date there have been over 2,000 entries from children spread across 70 countries around the world. The lucky winner will get their creation professionally rendered by Rolls-Royce, and be chauffeur-driven in a Rolls‑Royce to school. Their school will also benefit from a new Greenpower electric car kit to take part in the annual Greenpower Challenge.
Runners up in the competition will receive an individually hand-signed certificate from Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce.
Gavin Hartley, Head of Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will be judging the entries. He said: “We’re delighted by the sheer inventiveness, vision and detail we’re seeing in the children’s designs. Some of the ideas are truly extraordinary and have really got us thinking; it’s inspiring us as a design team to see things differently and challenge our own notions of what’s possible.”
