A video of Punjab’s Transport Minister, Laljit Singh Bhullar has surfaced on the internet in which he can be seen sitting on top of the sunroof of a moving Ford Endeavour. In the video, we can also see two police officials dangling out of the rear windows. Needless, to say that this is not only dangerous for the minister but also for the police officials.

The Ford Endeavour is being escorted by two Maruti Suzuki Gypsies and there is loud Punjabi music playing through the speakers. When the camera zooms in on the minister, he can be seen waving to the camera. It seems like the convoy is on a national highway and they are doing high speeds.
Netizens are saying that the minister was putting his life and the life of the police officials at risk. Even political parties like Congress and Akali Dal are criticizing Laljit Singh Bhullar for doing this act. There might not be an official law that says it is illegal to stick your head out of the window but some states have started imposing fines on doing so because it can be very dangerous.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Laljit Singh Bhullar said, “I feel no hesitation in admitting this mistake for which I apologise. I assure the people who elected me, that I will not let them raise this kind of complaint in the future,” He also said that the video is three months old and was shot when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the elections in Punjab.
Kolkata imposes fine on people who pop out of sunroof
Back in January this year, Lalbazar area in Kolkata have been ordered to start a campaign against those people who pop out of the sunroofs of cars while the car is in motion. This was done because the cops started seeing increasing instances where people would get out of the sunroof in moving traffic. There were doing this, especially in busy areas of the city like Maa and AJC Bose Road flyovers.
CCTV cameras in the area recorded enough proof for the cops to take strict action against such people. So, the traffic cops set a fine of Rs. 1,000 on violators under Section 184 (F) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Two of the offenders have already been fined for such hazardous driving around the Park Street-Park Circus-Maa flyover zone by the East Guard. Kolkata police said that this is for spreading awareness.
In recent times, buying a vehicle with a sunroof has become a new trend. Then the people would start clicking pictures by getting out of the sunroof. There have been some cases where the people have hurt their neck, head or even throats by kite strings and wires dangling in their ways. Moreover, it is just not safe to get out of the sunroof. It is important that every occupant sitting in the vehicle must use the seat belt.
