Peugeot has given the 3008 an update, albeit quite an early one given the model is only three years old, which probably explains why not really that much has changed. Having said that, the 3008 now features a remarkable grille, being frameless and comprising dozens of metal teeth that extend into the light clusters.
Peugeot has also given the 3008 the distinctive ‘sabre tooth’ front DRLs, as seen on the new 208 and 2008, as well as adding some new colours and interior trim, and giving buyers a little more tech. At the rear, the taillight clusters are now covered in smoked glass so that they look like an extension of the black bar on the tailgate, giving the car a wider appearance.
Buyers can now specify two new shades of blue, names Celebes and Vertigo, though Peugeot doesn’t supply pictures of either, strangely, while GT Line cars now get a contrasting black roof. Contrasting assuming the rest of the car isn’t black, of course. There’s an optional Black Pack available now too, which darkens much of the trim and brings with it a unique set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is upgraded for improved contrast, including darker blacks meaning the dials themselves are easier to read. The infotainment screen has better contrast too, plus it grows by a few inches so that it’s now ten. The basic cabin architecture, which still looks as fresh and innovative as the day it was released, is unchanged although buyers can now choose from some new trim colours and there’s a fancy Nappa leather option too.
Finally, smartphone users can charge their phones wirelessly, and there are a couple of extra USB ports for rear seat passengers.
No additional powertrains, meaning the base model is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol with 128bhp, and there’s a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel with the same output. A 1.6-litre petrol produces 178bhp, and there are two petrol-electric hybrid models, a 222bhp front-wheel drive version boasting just 30g/km official CO2 emissions and a Hybrid4 model, four-wheel drive, with 296bhp. That one can do up to 37 miles of electric-only driving, in theory, before its 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine kicks in. Its CO2 emissions are just 29g/km.
No prices yet but expect a small increase on the price of today’s car, meaning a starting number around the £26,000 mark.
