Peugeot 3008 SUV Plus And 5008 SUV Plus Launched In Malaysia

Nasim Sdn Bhd has officially launched the new Peugeot 3008 SUV Plus and the larger Peugeot 5008 SUV Plus. These two updated models come out of the Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) plant in Gurun, Kedah, which is jointly owned by the Naza Group and Groupe PSA and is PSA’s Southeast Asia production hub.

The 3008 SUV Plus and 5008 SUV Plus both come in two variants i.e. Active and Allure. The 3008 Active is priced at RM150,888, while the 3008 Allure is RM163,888. The 5008 Active is RM166,888, while the 5008 Allure is RM179,888. All prices are on-the-road without insurance and includes a five-year or 120,000 km warranty, three years’ free service, 24-hour Peugeot Assistance and complimentary access to the Subang Skypark SkyLounge. All of them are powered by the same 1.6L THP high-pressure twin scroll turbo direct injection engine that produces 167 PS and 240 Nm of torque (@ 1,400 rpm), that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Quickshift Technology. The official fuel consumption for both models is rated at 7 litres per 100 km for mixed driving.

From the front and rear, they both look very much alike and the size of each only becomes more obvious in side or three quarter view. The 3008 is a five-seater while the 5008 is a seven-seater, and as such the 5008 is actually slightly larger in every dimension (wheelbase: 2,730 mm vs 2,840 mm; length: 4,510 mm vs 4,670 mm; width: 1,850 mm vs 1,855 mm; height: 1,662 mm vs 1,655 mm). Even the fuel tank capacity of the 5008 is takes 3 litres more than the 3008’s 53 litre tank. In terms of cargo volume, it’s 591 / 1,670 litres vs 952 / 2,042 litres.

Standard exterior kit for both SUVs include LED 3D “Claw Effect” tail lights, automatic headlights with follow-me-home function, acoustic laminated windscreen, rain-sensing wipers with “Magic Wash” feature, 180° reverse camera, side mirror adaptation in reverse gear, 18″ alloy wheels (“Los Angeles” for 3008, “Detroit” for 5008).

Inside, standard equipment include a 12.3″ digital head-up cluster display with Dials, Driving, Minimal, and Personal modes, 8″ capacitive multifunction colour touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink, voice recognition and Arkamys 3D sound staging, dual-zone climate control, flat floor, 6-way powered front passenger seat, leather trimmed steering wheel, front armrest with butterfly opening and 11 litres cold storage capacity, 2 USB ports.

Standard safety features include 6 airbags, 5-mode Advanced Grip Control (Normal, ESP Off, Snow, Mud, Sand), Hill Assist Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Programme, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, Anti-skid Regulation, Dynamic Stability Control, 2 ISOFIX, automatic rear hazard lights.

The extras found in the more expensive Allure variants are:

Exterior: full LED headlights, LED fog lights, LED sequential scrolling indicator lights, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, enhanced roof rails (3008 only).

Interior: auto dimming rear view mirror, GPS navigation, premium Claudio Black leather interior, 8-way powered driver’s seat with 2 memory settings (standard in 5008 variants).

Safety: Speed Limit Information, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring Assist, Driver Attention Alert.

The common exterior colours for both models are Nera Black, Pearl White, Aster Grey, and Amazonite Grey. The 3008 has an exclusive Metallic Copper while Emerald Crystal is for the 5008 only.
