The results are not that far off from the company's estimates, but good luck in snagging one.
The official driving range and efficiency rating of the AWD Cadillac Lyriq has been announced by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA). According to the Department of Energy website, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq AWD has a driving range of 307 miles on a single charge and an efficiency rating of 89 MPGe in combined driving conditions.
Comparatively, the Cadillac Lyriq RWD, which utilizes a single motor on the rear axle, can travel 312 miles on a single charge. This suggests that the additional motor in the Lyriq AWD doesn't significantly affect its power consumption. The results confirm the claimed estimated range set by the brand but while the results are admirable, they still don't crack our top 10 list of EVs with the longest range.
Equipped with an all-wheel-drive powertrain consisting of two Ultium Drive motors, the Lyriq AWD delivers an impressive 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds which are impressive but not exactly earth-shattering figures, especially when compared to its contemporaries.
Manufactured on Cadillac's BEV3 platform that uses GM's advanced, energy-dense Ultium battery technology, the Lyriq is produced at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except China where models for the Asian market are being produced at GM's Yantai, China factory. Production for the 2023 model year has recently concluded to make way for the 2024 model.
The most affordable Lyriq is the Tech trim which starts at $57,195, while the fully loaded example goes up to nearly $85,000. This puts the electric Cadillac above the criteria set by the IRS to qualify for the government's $7,500 tax break incentive.
While the IRS no longer considers the Lyriq for the tax break, GM has earlier stated that it doesn't feel the need to slash prices for its EVs, unlike other brands.
