What's AWD and 271-hp worth to you?
Subaru has officially announced pricing for its all-new, fifth-generation 2022 WRX. So let's get right to it. The Base trim will kick off at $29,105, not including the $995 destination fee. That'll get you a six-speed manual gearbox paired to the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Compared to last year, that's a $1,680 increase compared to its predecessor.
If you don't feel like rowing your own gears, the optional automatic Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) brings up the amount to $31,950, including destination. Swinging for the slushbox further includes the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology with cruise control and an electronic parking brake. Subaru points out the destination fee could vary in certain states.
Some of the many standard features you'll get include dual USB input ports located in the front center console, Welcome Lighting, and remote keyless entry. A set of 17-inch alloys wrapped in summer performance tires and roof rack mounting brackets are also tossed in.
Inside, you'll find dual 7.0-inch high-resolution touchscreens compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Moving up the trim ladder is the WRX Premium, price from $32,600 with destination. That'll get you 18-inch wheels in a dark grey finish, LED fog lights, a low-profile rear spoiler, and convenience features like the All-Weather Package with heated front seats, side mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Best of all, there's the 11.6-inch tablet-style center display with the Starlink Multimedia Plus system.
An 11-speaker Harmon Kardon system costs another $1,875. The WRX Limited, starting from $36,990, brings Steering Responsive LED headlights, blind-spot detection, a moonroof, and a 10-way power driver's seat. And then there's the $42,890 WRX GT flagship. This new for 2022 trim comes standard with the slushbox, exclusive 18-inch wheels wearing performance rubber, unique Recaro front seats, and electronically controlled dampers. It must be pointed out that those dampers are only available on the GT.
Subaru says orders are now being taken and all four trims will arrive in dealerships nationwide this spring.
