That won't stop people from flocking to dealerships.
Early last month, we received word that the 2022 Acura MDX Type S would carry a base price “in the high-$60,000 range.” That's been proven to be absolutely correct. The luxury Japanese automaker has released official 2022 MDX Type S pricing just in time for the holidays. But if you're hoping to receive this premium and sporty SUV as a gift, the gift giver better have some deep pockets.
The base MDX Type carries a starting price of $66,700, not including the $1,045 destination charge. So you're looking at a minimum of $67,745. If you desire the Advanced Package, be prepared to hand over $73,095, including destination.
Regardless of which one you opt for, the MDX Type S, the first time an Acura SUV has received the coveted Type S badge, comes powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 pumping out a healthy 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. A fast-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission routes power to the excellent Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
Other notable standard features include an air suspension system with adjustable ride height, an adaptive damper system with three profiles, a seven-mode integrated dynamics system, Brembo front brakes with 14.3-inch rotors and red four-piston fixed calipers, and standard 21-inch wheels.
Standard interior amenities include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexa integration, wireless charging, an ELS Studio 3D audio 16-speaker audio system, 12-way power front seats covered in Milano leather, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Stepping up to the Advanced Package tacks on things like a 25-speaker, 1,000-watts audio system, 16-way power and 9-way massage front seats, heated rear seats, and open-pore wood trim with a cool black metallic finish.
Pricey? Yes, even for the “standard” MDX Type S, but with a standard third row of seats, this Acura SUV is an ideal family hauler for people who love to drive.
