Honda and Acura are recalling 124,077 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential brake failure that may occur if a part of the brake system was improperly assembled. Driving has reached out to Honda Canada to find out the number of models affected on this side of the border, and will update this story when that information is made available.
In 2021, Honda received a report of brake failure on a 2021 Honda Pilot. Though there have been no injuries related to this issue, the company investigated the problem at large, which resulted in it finding a potentially improperly assembled tie-rod fastener. If it isn’t assembled correctly, it could result in loose or missing tie-rod nuts, potentially causing the brake master cylinder to separate from the brake booster. This in turn could lead to brake failure.
The affected models include:
- 2020-2021Honda Civic
- 2020-2023 Honda Ridgeline
- 2021-2023 Honda Passport
- 2021-2022 Honda Pilot
