One month after teaser materials hinting to a new Golf were first spotted on Volkswagen’s Malaysian website, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has today started order takings for the updated Golf, loosely known as the Golf Mk 7.5.
As before, the new Golf’s family will be powered by three engine variants, all turbocharged – a 1.4-litre for the TSI Sportline and R-Line (150 PS/250 Nm), a 2.0-litre for the GTI and R, but at a different state of tune; 230 PS/350 Nm and 290 PS/380 Nm respectively.
It remains fully-imported from Wolfsburg, Germany.
The most obvious difference between the new Golf and the outgoing model are the new bumpers, tail lights, and headlights.
There are four variants on offer – TSI Sportline (from RM 155,990), TSI R-Line (from RM 169,990), GTI (from RM 239,990), and R (from RM 295,990). All prices are on the road excluding insurance. However, the TSI R-Line will only be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships at a later date due to stock unavailability.
