Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, has appointed Mr Won-Chul Yang as Chief Executive Officier of the company effective 12 February 2015, replacing the late Mr Tetsuya Oda, who passed away after a tragic road accident last year.
Carrying over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry with him, Mr Yang joined the Seoul office of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) in 1992 and has risen through the company’s ranks serving as Manager of MC Tokyo from 2003 to 2006 before moving home to become the Director of Strategic Planning and Coordination in the Mitsubishi Motors Sales Korea Ltd.
Yang has been part of the MMM set up since 2012, holding the position of Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning and Coordination. In his tenure, he helped oversee the kickstarting of the Mitsubishi ASX CKD project, the first locally-assembled Mitsubishi vehicle launched under MMM’s watch.
Since being founded in 2005, MMM has sold over 82,000 vehicles in Malaysia. The company is jointly owned by MC (52%) and EON Bhd (48%); it is a separate business entity from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Japan.
