The Bavarians have put their latest track orientated derivative on a strict diet which has seen it shred some niceties in a successful attempt to shed 100 kilograms in comparison to the regular model. A rear seat deleted and lightweight bodywork are part of this pursuit while only the rear wheels will be driven to help keep things lightweight.
This is shaping up to be a driver-focused and track capable weapon which will also have its power bumped up to an alleged 410 kW which is a fair amount more than the standard 375 kW derivative. An automatic gearbox is rumoured to be the only transmission option in the range.
The latest images teased ahead of its launch show distinct lighting signatures up front and at the rear end. Not much else has been shown but based on camouflage models seen testing, the new BMW M4 CSL will be expected to incorporate the controversial grille flanked by a more aggressive front fascia with additional air vents on the lower part of the bumper. The vague semblance of a more prominent splitter is also shown in the teaser images which has been spied on the track-tested model.
The rear seems to employ a ducktail spoiler which mounts above the bootlid and while it is not visible in the images here, the test mule has used a four exit tailpipe configuration divided by a centre portion of the rear diffuser.
Join us for its official debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este that will run from the 20th – 22nd of May.
