The BMW iX M60 has finally arrived. The top-of-the-line Bavarian electric SUV surfaced just days before CES 2022, when it was supposed to make its premiere. The Munich company can already brag about its first zero-emission SUV, which was built by the sports section and has incredible performance.
The new M60 variant of the BMW iX has just been leaked, bringing the iX line to a close. It’s the sportiest and most capable of the electric SUVs that are now on the market across Europe, including two all-wheel-drive models in Spain. The zero-emission vehicle, which is the second electric to emerge from the BMW M workshops following the i4 M50, is the cherry on top.
The new BMW iX M60 is one of the company’s major new releases for CES 2022, where it will be part of a major technical exhibition that includes an important global first that the German brand predicted a few months ago: a new color-changing body paint. A more forceful attitude than the electric sports saloon is shown by a twofold presentation that has been advanced. The German company has not published the specs of the iX range’s most powerful electric SUV, but it has unveiled some highly unique and hitherto unseen features.
It’s further recognizable by a darker “M60” emblem on the tailgate, as well as another pair of “M’s” on the front wings, both lacquered in black and with the white outline sticking out notably. The gold finish that runs down the bottom border of the glass surface, beginning at the wing mirror arm and ending at the rear pillar, is new. There are no notable differences inside, save for the M-specific ornamentation and multifunction motorized front seats, which are both standard and unique to this variant.
BMW engineers fine-tuned the electric SUV’s chassis under the skin, adding dynamic rear-axle steering and air suspension, as well as additional driving modes for optimal performance. And it’s true that the new BMW iX M60 boasts an electric all-wheel drive system that can be activated on demand, with the rear axle being prioritized.
Two electric motors will deliver a maximum power of 590 CV in electric mode, providing a high maximum autonomy. Its specifications, which will be confirmed in the coming days, indicate to a battery with a net capacity of 111.5 kWh, the most powerful in the German brand’s organ bank, and a 3.9-second acceleration from zero to 100 km/h.
Our journalists have had the opportunity to meet him numerous times over the last ten months, since the formal unveiling of the BMW iX (see below). First, at a standstill, to learn more about the car’s interior and design secrets; secondly, behind the wheel, to learn more about its driving enjoyment, comfort, and, of course, range.
BMW will unveil its next all-electric SUV, the iX, on November 11, 2020. This Tesla Model X and Audi e-tron Sportback competitor is based on the iNext concept that debuted in 2018. The moment has come to open the order book and publish the SUV costs, just a few months after the formal unveiling of this new model.
The BMW iX will be available in two models at first, each with a different battery and power level.
There is an entry-level xDrive40 model with less power (326 hp) and a smaller 71 kWh battery that has a range of 425 kilometers.

The iX xDrive40 is the initial iteration, which features two electric motors (one on each axle) and a total output of 326 horsepower (240 kW). 630 Nm is the torque displayed. According to BMW, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.1 seconds.
According to the WLTP cycle, the 76.6 kWh battery (71 kWh in net capacity) provides for a proper range of 425 km. The iX delivers quick direct current (DC) charging up to 150 kW in this entry-level model. As a result, the vehicle can reclaim 90 kilometers of autonomy in just ten minutes.
The BMW iX xDrive50 is still equipped with two engines. It has 523 horsepower (385 kW) of combined power and 765 Nm of torque, making it more sporty. It can reach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds as a result of this. According to the WLTP cycle, BMW has installed a huge battery with a capacity of over 111.5 kWh (105.2 kWh in net capacity), allowing it to run for up to 630 kilometers without charging.
The battery supports rapid charging up to 200 kW on direct current (DC), allowing it to recover 120 km of range in 10 minutes and charging from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes. However, if you want to make a more traditional version at home, you’ll need to be patient.
With a 14.9-inch curved screen, the iX is the first vehicle to feature the new eighth-generation iDrive system architecture.

However, for the time being, BMW is being tight-lipped about specifics.
The model will be on sale in November 2021, although it is now available for customization on the manufacturer’s business website. The iX begins at € 86,250 for the 326 horsepower xDrive40 variant. According to BMW, it is about the same price as the X5 plug-in hybrid, which starts at € 84,350 and has a total power output of 394 horsepower.
The iX costs € 13,000 less than its main competitor, the Tesla Model X, which starts at € 99,990 for the Long Range variant. The e-tron is available from Audi for € 71,900 for the e-tron 50 (230 horsepower) and € 84,200 for the e-tron 55. (360 hp). The price of the e-tron S (503 horsepower) is € 96,600.
BMW said a third, sportier variant will be released later. It’s called the iX M60 and it claims to be from the Bavarian brand’s sports division, with more than 600 horsepower (440 kW).
The xDrive50 version of the BMW iX is priced above 100,000 €, with a starting price of 103,500 €, without including the numerous options available. Needless to say, the SUV is not qualified for any environmental benefits at this price. The BMW SUV is cheaper in its most powerful form than the Tesla Model X Plaid, which starts at € 119,990 but has far greater power with 1,020 horsepower and a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 2.6 seconds.
