It could make more than the reported 500 horsepower from the upcoming M2 CS.
We've seen the facelifted BMW 4 Series testing on the road before but have yet to see the LCI model on track. Fortunately, YouTube channel CarSpyMedia was at Nurburging to capture some of the most exciting cars in Green Hell, and the 4 Series was caught clocking a few laps.
The recent outing was said to be a first for the facelifted iteration at the Nurburgring. Due to the heavy camouflage on the front and rear fascia, the changes were barely noticeable. But perhaps the most significant design tweak was the new lower front fascia, which sports three horizontal slats for intake.
The headlights also appear revamped, coming with a design similar to the ones in the facelifted 3 Series released last year. Meanwhile, the taillights could also get a new graphic considering the concealments within the lamp during the track day.
Carried over to the facelift was the brand's controversial kidney grille. Whether fans fancy it or not, BMW said the grille design is here to stay, with the Bavarian automaker saying people will get used to it. But who knows, the kidney grille could work this time once the model is entirely revealed.

The upcoming 4er's powertrain details are scarce at this point. However, we can expect two engine options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine. The 8-speed ZF automatic transmission should be retained, especially considering BMW announced it would stop producing dual-clutch gearboxes.
The facelifted BMW 4 Series could also host a performance output increase as the upcoming M2 CS will reportedly deliver around 500 to 520 horsepower. Since the 4 Series is slotted above the 2 Series, we could see the former make more than that.
It is not until early 2024 that we will see updates on the new BMW 4 Series, but at least we saw the vehicle's performance on the track.
