The MG ZS EV facelift will go on sale in India on March 7, 2022, the company has announced. MG has already released images of the exterior and certain bits of the interior confirming that, visually, the ZS EV facelift will be identical to the model sold in the UK.
Elements like the headlamps and tail lamps have been borrowed from the MG Astor and that means the new ZS EV will get LED lighting front and rear. The alloy wheel design is new as well, but the most prominent design revision comes in the form of a body coloured panel replacing the outgoing ZS EV’s more conventional looking grille element. Front and rear bumpers get updated as well.

Inside, the 2022 MG ZS EV will be offered with a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. MG has also revealed that the new ZS EV’s rear seat gets a pop down central armrest with cup holders and three removable headrests along with rear AC vents. Expect upholstery and trim changes as well.
A closer inspection of the lower part of the front bumper points at the inclusion of ADAS to the safety features of the upcoming MG ZS EV facelift with assistance coming in the form of collision detection and automated braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control along with the inclusion of blind spot warning and 360-degree camera view.

In the UK, the MG ZS EV is offered with either a 51kWh battery pack or a 73kWh battery pack. For the Indian market, MG is expected to bring the 51kWh version, which would mean a bigger battery pack compared to the outgoing version which gets a 44.5kWh battery pack that provides a claimed range of 419km. The 51kWh MG ZS EV variant boasts a WLTP certified range of 319km (combined) and 428km (city). This variant has a peak power and torque output of 176bhp and 280Nm respectively.

The outgoing MG ZS EV starts at Rs 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the 2022 MG ZS EV starting price to be slightly higher, but the top-end trim(s) will cost more than the current car’s, keeping in mind all the features that have been added. MG ZS EV’s only rival in India currently is the Hyundai Kona Electric.
