The CSL nameplate is one steeped in history and not one that is too frequently stuck onto high performance BMW models in the portfolio. Afterall, the acronym stands for Coupe Sport Lightweight so it would naturally have to be used sparingly, on the models which embody the name. We will soon feast our eyes on the BMW M4 CSL which will debut on the 20th of May but in the meantime, the M division displayed its prowess in a blurry image of the side profile of the model on their Instagram account.
Vague red accents can be seen running below the door sills of the coupe with a grey colour tone used for the rest of the exterior. Not too much else is obvious, since the entire car has been stretched out over a slow camera shutter speed but recent spy shots of the model enjoying on the Nürburgring give us a better understanding of what exterior changes have happened over its standard G82 M4 counterpart.
No official confirmation on power upgrades or mechanical improvements has been released yet but rumours are pegging it to be up to 100 kg lighter while power might be improved by more than 10%. We don’t know the price tag yet, but it is probably going to be eye watering considering rumours of a 1,000 unit production run have been floating around.
