Mitsubishi’s new Xforce has broken cover at the Indonesia Auto Show which took place last week. Under the bonnet, the new SUV is powered by a 1,5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 77 kW and 141 N.m, all channelled to the front wheels via a CVT. The Xforce can still handle off-road conditions since it ha been endowed with 222 mm of ground clearance when equipped with 18-inch wheels. Its rugged capabilities are further bolstered by a 21-degree approach angle and a 35-degree departure angle. The crossover also offers four distinct drive modes: Normal, Gravel, Mud, and Wet which are programmed to cope with different levels of traction.
Keeping with technical specs, the Xforce measures 4 390 mm in length, 1 810 mm in width, and 1 660 mm in height, all riding on a 2 650 mm wheelbase. This means that it is sized to compete against Toyota’s Urban Cruiser despite looking far more plush.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a sizable 12,3-inch infotainment display alongside an 8,0-inch digital instrument cluster. An interesting addition is the use of a unique melange fabric padding for the dashboard, a first for Mitsubishi. As for the audio system, the Xforce is equipped with an eight-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium setup that includes tweeters, woofers, and offers four different sound profiles.
The infotainment system also enables seamless smartphone connectivity via WebLink, allowing applications to be projected onto the larger screen. The display is organized into three distinct sections with multi-widget functionality. Passengers have the convenience of both USB Type-A and Type-C ports for device connectivity, as well as a wireless charger located at the front.
Mitsubishi has prioritized practicality with the Xforce, boasting ample storage options. The company claims that the door trims, floor console, and other compartments can easily accommodate up to 21 plastic bottles, each with a capacity of 600 millilitres. Additionally, there’s a console box complete with a drink cooler. The rear cargo area is adaptable, featuring a height-adjustable floor and expandable capacity when utilizing the 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats.
Initially launching in Indonesia, the Xforce will eventually make its way to other markets, including South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. South Africa is confirmed to receive the model although no information is known on its price or exact arrival. In the country which it was revealed, its price will start from 382 500 000 Indonesian rupiah which converts to around R475 000.
