At the
global reveal of the next-generation Everest
, Ford confirmed that there will be at least three trims for their 7-seater mid-sized SUV: the Sport, Titanium+, and Platinum. Now, it’s been confirmed that there are actually five with the Ambiente and Trend actually being retained for this all-new model.
With Ford pushing the upper trim models, they didn’t show how these lower-trim variants would look like until now.
The 2022 Everest range starts off with the Ambiente model. Shown in Artic White, it’s the plainest Everest that you can get. With the exception of the trademark horizontal bar grille, there aren’t much chrome elements. However, it gets what looks to be LED headlights and front fog lights, and 18-inch Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires as standard. Inside, the Everest Ambiente still gets full digital instrumentation and a portrait-style infotainment screen, albeit an 8-inch one found. It’s also shown in a 5-seater configuration as well.
Moving up, there’s the Trend. Shown in Sedona Orange, it’s differentiated by a split-spoke alloy wheel design with all-terrain Goodyear Wrangler tires (255/65R18). Exterior-wise, it looks pretty identical to the Ambiente, but the front overrider is finished in chrome. Inside, it’s the first variant to be shown in a 7-seater configuration. The steering wheel and seats also look to be covered in leather trim, while the dash does have a soft-touch topper. The silver-painted plastics are also swapped for a black wood-like trim. Tech-wise, the touchscreen goes up immediately to a 12.3-inch screen, and it’s also the lowest variant to offer the e-shifter. Based on what Ford said before, this is an indicator that this the lowest trim to be offered with 4WD.
Then, there’s the Sport shown in Blue Lightning. This one deletes all the exterior chrome and goes for high-gloss black accents instead down to the 20-inch alloy wheels shod with Goodyear Territory H/T 255/55R20 tires. The word, “EVEREST” is also spelt out on the hood. Inside, the 7-seater Everest Sport features a different pattern for its leather seats.
Now, things get more luxurious from this point on. The Titanium+, the previous top-of-the-line variant of the Everest now sits just below the Platinum. However, you’d be hard-pressed to see the differences. Like the Sport, the Everest Titanium+ rides on 20-inch Goodyear Territory H/Ts, only this time, the wheels have a Y-spoke pattern. Chrome also comes back with a vengeance and it’s seen on things like the step board, door handles, and even the window garnish. Once again, Ford differentiated the Everest Titanium+’s leather seat pattern, and the soft-touch material on the dash is now replaced by its own stitched leather design which extends to the knee pads. Ambient interior lighting’s present here too. When it comes to on-board tech, it gets different instrumentation with a larger LCD cluster. This variant also adds matrix adaptive LED headlights.
Finally, let’s get to the Everest Platinum. The new Equinox Bronze color gives it a sense of sophistication and luxury that wasn’t quite there before, and it’s backed up by the largest wheels ever put in an Everest as standard: 21 inches. Goodyear Wrangler Territory HTs are still the OEM tire choice here, but they’re sized now at 275/45R21s. The hood decal and tailgate decals are also replaced with the word, “PLATINUM.” So bling-bling. Surprisingly, Ford opted to dial back the chrome here as elements like the door handles go back to being body-colored. Inside, the leather seats now feature a quilted pattern, while the word, “PLATINUM” are also found on the stitched leather dash and seats. The Platinum also looks to have a panoramic sunroof and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.
Naturally, these variants are reflective of what the global market’s getting. With Ford Philippines launching the all-new Everest sometime late 2022, everyone will get a clearer picture of what to expect for the local market then. For now, let the speculations begin.
