SAIC brand Maxus has opened the order books for its Mifa 9 electric passenger van. The seven-seater comes with a 180 kW electric motor and a 90 kWh battery, allowing it to go up to 440 kilometres on one charge.
The Chinese EV starts at €68,990 in Germany. The packages “luxury” and “premium” cost 7,000 and 14,000 euros more, respectively, and come with additional features such as a sunroof or 19-inch alloy wheels. However, the drive technology is the same for all variants. In the UK, the EV starts at £53,588, although it seems the model cannot be ordered there at this point.
The 180 kW/245 hp electric motor enables a WLTP range of 440 kilometres. According to the manufacturer, up to 595 kilometres are possible in city traffic. Charging at the fast charger takes about half an hour (30 to 80 per cent). The Mifa 9 electric van comes with an 11 kW onboard charger and can also be charged at home overnight.
“With the Mifa 9, we are transferring our expertise in electric mobility to the passenger car segment for the first time”, says Maxus brand manager Karsten Dornheim, who is responsible for import and sales at Maxomotive Deutschland.
Maxus pick-up is already on sale in Germany
The Mifa 9 is Maxus’ first electric car in Germany. It already offers vans as well as the electric pick-up T90 EV there. The latter has had open order books since the end of March and starts at €54,990.
The pick-up features a 130 kW electric drive and 89 kWh battery. The range, according to WLTP, is 330 kilometres, and, Maxus adds, the EV can even go up to 471 kilometres on one charge in city traffic. It has room for up to five passengers and a towing capacity of up to one tonne. The load area measures 1.48 metres in length and 1.51 metres in width, and the payload is up to 925 kilograms.
The T90 EV has a lithium iron phosphate battery, which can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in about 45 minutes at the fast charger. The standard T90 EV model is white. However, customers can choose from a short list of colour options, including a metallic paint finish in blue, black or grey. The option costs an extra €650.
“The new Maxus T90 EV proves that high payloads and alternative drives are by no means mutually exclusive.
