The tuner Mansory is well known for creating – how to put this politely – controversial cars. Their typical style of bold and brash certainly attracts attention, but often result in a beautiful performance car been murdered in the process. Their latest car base don a Ferrari 812 Superfast is surprisingly subtle. It’s aptly named the Softkit.
Unlike the jarring Stallione 812 recently revealed, the Softkit preserves much of Ferrari’s original design language. Instead of butchering its clean lines, Mansory has given it a distilled aggression through added details. Contrasting black elements highlight intakes and aerodynamic appendages, while smoked taillights further add to a more stealthy cause. The bodywork now includes front endplates and an intricately sculpted rear bumper extension. These new trinkets are all made out of carbon fibre.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast Softkit appears to just be a visual enhancement package, but one that we can actually get onboard with. Its Stallione models maybe go a bit too far with the external design, but other modifications do squeeze over 800bhp and 530lb ft of torque from the GT’s front mid-mounted V12 engine.
In standard guise, the Ferrari 812 Superfast’s 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine produces 789bhp. It will sprint from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and go onto a top speed in excess of 200mph. The car was introduced in 2017 to replace the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, and currently remains as Ferrari’s only naturally aspirated car in production. We expect Ferrari’s next V12 GT model to feature a hybrid powertrain.
What do you think? Could Mansory have finally created something that more Ferrari owners would like to see on their new car? The Ferrari 812 Superfast Softkit might just be the aftermarket option many have been looking for.
