The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is the latest contender in the super SUV segment, and it came to dominate.
It improves upon the already substantial specification level of the “standard” Cayenne Turbo, and carries the most powerful eight-cylinder Porsche engine yet.
It also has an exclusive exterior look provided by 22-inch alloy wheels, a more pronounced spoiler, and unique bumpers making it both longer and wider than the Turbo.
Performance
The 4.0-litre, bi-turbocharged, V8 engine in the Cayenne Turbo GT generates 471kW and 850Nm, and pairs with a fast-shifting 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
It also gets a GT-specific chassis, powertrain, and suspension set-up – making this model sit 17mm lower than the standard variant.
Active Suspension Management, Traction Management, and Dynamic Chassis Control programmes were then tweaked specifically for this model, and all the wheels’ negative camber was increased to give its specially-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres a larger contact patch.
This combines to let the SUV hit the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 300km/h.
The Cayenne Turbo GT also set a new record for SUVs around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, at a time of 7:38.9 minutes.
Features
The athletic exterior of the Cayenne Turbo GT extends into the cabin, where it features a four-seater-only layout.
Fitted at the front are electrically-adjustable sports seats, while the rear gets a two-seater configuration in place of the familiar three-seat bench.
Every seat also gets a centre panel insert in Alcantara and GT lettering on the headrests, along with the owner’s choice of either Neodyme or Arctic Grey stitching.
The Porsche Communication Management 6.0 infotainment system is also fitted, featuring improved performance, a new layout, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
Price
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has a South African starting price of R3,350,000.
Each purchase includes a standard 3-year/100,000km Driveplan.
Orders for this high-performance SUV are now open, with deliveries expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2021.
