Toyota has introduced the limited-edition Hilux Raider X to the South African market with more distinctive exterior styling than its non-X siblings.
Two versions of the double cab are available set apart by their gearboxes, with prices starting at R674,800 for the manual and R704,300 for the automatic.
This price is inclusive of a 3-year/100,000km warranty and a 9-services/90,000km service plan.

For a more rugged look, the Hilux Raider X has been given a host of exclusive exterior features comprising a chrome grille inset with Hilux badging, “chunky” matte black wheel arch cladding with red inserts, black side steps, a rubberised load bed, a matte-black styling bar with an integrated tonneau cover, and model-unique 17-inch alloy wheels.
It is also adorned with “Raider X” badging on the doors, tailgate, and in several spots inside the cabin, “which emphasises its limited-edition status,” said Toyota.
Additionally, buyers can have their Hilux Raider X in an array of colour options, including Arizona Red, Attitude Black, Chromium Silver, Cosmic Blue, Glacier White, Graphite Grey, Orange Metallic, Oxide Bronze, Platinum White Pearl, and Sand Beige.
Apart from the badging, the interior of the Raider X is similar to the rest of the Raider models.
The bakkie is equipped with a multifunction steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speakers, cruise control, and a multi-information driver’s display for displaying trip and vehicle data.
Moreover, it comes with automatic headlights, LED fog lamps, a reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, hill assist control, trailer sway control, and a drive mode selector with Eco and Sport settings.
The bakkie supports Toyota Connect, too, which supplies live navigation, battery health monitoring, real-time roadside assistance with impact detection, GPS location tracking, a digital logbook, driver monitoring and rating, and in-car WiFi, all via a smartphone app.
Providing the Hilux with power is a 2.4-litre, turbo-diesel motor generating 110kW and 400Nm, mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The bakkie boasts a part-time, four-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip differential and returns a consumption of 7.6l/100km for the manual and 7.7l/100km for the auto.
Like the rest of the Hilux line-up, the Raider X supports a maximum towing capacity of 3,500kg, as well as a payload capacity of 805-830kg, depending on the model.
