Ferrari’s first-ever SUV looks to be production-ready and could debut sooner than expected
The 2022 Ferrari Purosangue could debut within a matter of weeks following the appearance of leaked images apparently showing the Prancing Horse’s inaugural SUV in final production form.
Posted to the ‘cochespias’ Instagram page overnight, the images reveal the high-riding Italian GT’s front and rear designs, and overall proportions that resemble a vertically stretched Ferrari Roma, albeit with five doors.
Some parallels can also be drawn with the Aston Martin DBX in terms of the rear-end treatment, save for the Aston’s ducktail central lines.
Exactly which of these models Ferrari has in its sights remains to be seen, but comparisons will inevitably be drawn with the aforementioned Lamborghini given the market positioning and bitter rivalry between the two Italian supercar brands.
Other rivals for Ferrari’s first SUV could include the Maserati Levante Trofeo, as well as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga if previous specification rumours ring true.
Tipped to be powered by a twin-turbo V6-based plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain derived from the one in the Ferrari 296 GTB supercar, the Purosangue is also expected to debut a vehicle architecture to be used in other upcoming Ferrari GT models.
