Lambo’s faster, sexier twin-turbo V8 SUV adopts black-ops suit to fend off Ferrari Purosangue
After heavily camouflaged spy photos of the 2022 Lamborghini Urus EVO emerged a year ago, the Italian supercar marque’s upgraded SUV has now been exposed.
Seen cold-weather testing in Europe, it’s now clear the new Lamborghini Urus EVO will boast a facelift comprising an updated grille, new lower front fascia and subtle tweaks to the headlights.
It also carries rear-end revisions, including a resculpted bumper, while new-look alloy wheels are also in evidence at each corner.
Given the ballistic SUV’s psychedelic camouflage has been replaced by a matte black wrap, it stands to reason Lamborghini is readying the Urus EVO for its global reveal, which will be timed to deflect attention away from the all-new Ferrari Purosangue that’s expected to debut in the coming months.
As well as exterior updates, the Lamborghini Urus EVO is expected to introduce significant cabin improvements across comfort and tech departments.
An upgrade is also anticipated for the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, currently at 478kW/850Nm and capable of a 3.6sec 0-100km/h acceleration time.
Based on the same platform as other Volkswagen Group SUVs including the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q8, the new EVO model denotes the mid-life ‘evolutionary’ update to what has become Lamborghini’s best-selling vehicle ever.
It will be followed by a petrol-electric hybrid version in 2024.
The next-generation super-fast SUV will then transform to an all-electric model later this decade.
