The last pure internal combustion models from Lamborghini have been spoken for, CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed on Tuesday to German publication Welt.
Winkelmann said the last pure combustion Urus models are “sold out by the end of production,” marking the very end of Lamborghini’s non-hybrid run.
Lamborghini plans to hybridize the Urus’s entire lineup by next year once all of the non-hybrid cars have been built. It will be the second car from the Italian brand to gain electric assistance following the flagship V-12-powered Revuelto.
The Urus isn’t the only car set to gain hybrid power in Lamborghini’s lineup in 2024. The Huracán, which sold out earlier this year, will end production next year and bow out in favor of a hybrid replacement. It’s not clear whether the new car will retain V-10 power, but it will have electric assistance of some kind.
Once Lamborghini’s entire lineup is hybridized, it plans to introduce its first all-electric car, a 2+2 grand tourer, in 2028. Then, in 2029, it plans to make the Urus all-electric. Exciting times.
