All-electric hooning looks to be on the horizon.

- The Audi Hoonitron features a dual-motor powertrain, all-wheel drive and a caborn-fiber chassis.
The folks at Audi have made it clear: Engines are out and motors are in. While Audi is pushing itself further into electric motorsport, the company is looking at other ways to show off electric power, too, including working with Ken Block to develop an all-electric, tire-shredding homage to the legendary Audi S1 Sport Quattro that the company calls Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron.
Best known for his wildly successful Gymkhana series, rally career, and his former shoe company, Block is the perfect ambassador for electric fun. Details are light on what’s planned for this Audi tire shredder, but Audi did mention that this new EV will star in an upcoming video called “Elektrikhana.” We’re guessing it will make more than just one video appearance.
Audi isn’t the first brand to target wildly popular drifters as electric-car ambassadors. Ford worked with Vaughn Gittin Jr. on the absurd Mustang Mach-E 1400. Block himself climbed behind the wheel of this over-the-top machine in a video with over six million views.
Audi doesn’t mention the specifics of the build but notes that the Hoonitron sports two electric motors, all-wheel drive, and a carbon-fiber chassis. We don’t know how much power this machine sends to the wheels, how large the battery is, or if there’s any slick wizardry to help Block squeeze even more out of a car than he can with a combustion-powered car.
And there’s no word on when Block will unleash his “Elektrikhana” video, but we’re hoping it’s sooner than later. We also would like to see how this e-tron and Ford’s Mustang Mach-E 1400 stack up head to head.
