Jaguar has been making the most of the spring sunshine by putting its refreshed XF saloon to the test on Britain’s (mostly) empty roads. The BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class rival was snapped in long-wheelbase form, which will likely be exclusive to the Chinese market.
Despite being a reworked version of the existing XF, Jaguar has covered the stretched saloon in a camouflage to disguise the updated visuals. What we can see, however, is that it’ll have slimmer head and tail lights, plus a slightly more aggressive read end design. Given the sheer amount of camo around the front of the car, we wouldn’t be surprised if the bumper gets a tweaked design as well.
While we have yet to get a good look at the interior, Jaguar is poised to heavily revamp the cabin of the XF to give it a more luxurious feel. The car in its current form is nearly five years old, after all. Expect the company’s new Touch Pro Duo system to feature, complete with a 10.25-inch infotainment display and a second panel for climate control settings. We also expect the car’s analogue instrument cluster will be replaced with a configurable digital cockpit.
Details about the XF’s engine line-up are hard to come by, but we don’t expect a significant change over the existing range. That said, the motors be lightly reworked to meet the European Union’s ever more stringent emission laws, but we doubt those changes will have a major impact on performance or economy.
The XF long-wheelbase may be destined for the Chinese market, but the standard XF will also get the facelift treatment. Expect the updated models to be unveiled later this year, before sales commence in 2021.
