We all went ballistic when Jaguar announced that its next sports car would be called the F-Type shortly before it went on sale back in 2013. That’s because the E-Type of the 1960s and 70s is arguably one of the most recognised sports cars of all time, so the F-Type would have some pretty big boots to fill.
Whether the F-Type lived up to the hype is up for debate, but there’s no denying it’s part of the E-Type bloodline. With the sport car’s 60th anniversary taking place next year, Jaguar has decided to celebrate all-things E-Type by launching a special edition version of its contemporary equivalent.
Called the F-Type Heritage 60 Edition, the special edition sports car comes adorned in solid Sherwood Green, a paint hue that was available on the original E-Type but hasn’t been offered since the 60s. The paintwork contrasts with chrome accents around the grille and windows, a nod back to the original E-Type, and gloss black highlights – because you can’t have a special edition in 2020 without gloss black highlights.
Step inside and you’ll find a cabin that’s a little bit different to the usual F-Type. Sure, the layout is the same, but Jaguar has upholstered the cabin with two-tone Caraway and Ebony Windsor leather. And, of course, there’s a smattering of 60th anniversary logos dotted throughout the interior, plus bespoke floor mats and a special plaque that you can show to your E-Type loving friends.
Performance matches that of the F-Type R. That means you get a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that sends 567bhp to the both axles through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A 0-60mph dash takes 3.5 seconds and, if you keep on going, you’ll hit a top speed of 186mph.
The cost? How does £122,500 sound? That’s right, the Heritage 60 Edition is around £25,000 more than a standard F-Type R. But only 60 examples will be available worldwide, not including China, which makes this Heritage 60 Edition about as rare as a pristine original E-Type.
