If you are reading this, it’s safe to assume that you’re the DIY type. No visiting a battery servicing centre for you! Replacing the battery on your car is a fun and simple maintenance project that you can tackle in a few minutes with some simple tools.
You will need:
- A new battery
- 10mm socket, socket wrench and extension
- 10mm, 12mm and 13mm wrenches (depending on year model)
Let’s get started!
- Unclip and remove the air intake pipe next to the battery
- Remove the fusebox cover.
- Using your wrench, remove the positive battery terminal.
- Remove the fusebox.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Using a 10mm socket and extension, remove the bolt and retaining plate that holds the battery in place.
- Pull the battery forward and using your wrench, remove the negative terminal.
- Remove battery.
- Put new battery into position.
- Replace retainers, power cables and covers in reverse order.
