Charging an electric vehicle is child's play. Find out how easy it is to charge the Volkswagen e-Golf here.
The Volkswagen e-Golf is one of the more familiar Electric Vehicle (EV) offerings in production today. While not officially available in South Africa, these cars can be spotted occasionally as Volkswagen South Africa imported a few to showcase their EV efforts to the local audience.
Charging this full electric vehicle is a rather simple affair and highlights the benefits of using a full electric vehicle. The e-Golf doesn’t have a massive range, coming in at just over 200 km from a full charge, but for those that are doing less than that in a day, a vehicle like the e-Golf can slot into your lifestyle without major adjustments.
What you need:
– A charge card with funds loaded (if charging at a public charge point)
– Your charging cable
– Your portable charging cable if charging from a domestic socket
How to charge an e-Golf
– Park the vehicle and engage the parking brake. Switch the car off.
– Grab either your portable charger or charging cable and insert the respective end into ether the wall outlet (domestic charging) or the outlet of the charging station (public charging)
– When using a public charger, hold your charge card up to the screen to activate the charger.
– Plug the other end into the charging socket on the e-Golf.
– Follow the on-screen instructions if using a public charger (in most instances, charging will start automatically.)
– Lock your car and give it chance to charge the battery.
