The Virtus is to Slavia, what the Taigun is to the Kushaq. Launch date set for March 8
Volkswagen is preparing for the arrival of the all-new Virtus sedan. The German brand has officially announced that they will officially reveal the car on 8th March 2022. It will be similar to the Skoda Slavia in many ways and will utilise the same chassis, engines and transmissions.

The Indian-spec car will be share a lot with the Skoda Slavia
Volkswagen offers the Virtus in the global markets for a long time now. The Indian market will get the car for the first time ever. The new sedan will use the modular MQB A0 platform in international markets. In India, VW will make use of the India-spec MQQ A0 IN platform that brings down the cost significantly. The same platform also underpins the Slavia, Kushaq and the Taigun.
Volkswagen will unveil the all-new Virtus in India on 8th March
The Virtus replaced the Vento in the international markets and will do the same in India. The Indian spec car will be larger than the international-spec Virtus. The India-bound Virtus will measure about 4.5 metres in length with a wheelbase of 2,651mm. It is even marginally longer than the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, which currently offers the longest wheelbase in the segment.
The cabin will also get a fresh life with large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment taking the center stage. The layout of the dashboard will be similar to Skoda Slavia.
What will power the upcoming Virtus?
Volkswagen will use the same petrol engine options that it offers with the Taigun. Most of the variants will get the 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine that generates a maximum power of 115 PS. Volkswagen will offer a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission with this engine option.

The more powerful variants of Volkswagen Virtus will get the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI engine that generates a maximum power of 150 PS. It will offer a 7-speed DSG transmission and will get the GT badge as well.
