The recently introduced Honda Civic RS finds itself competing against premium contenders from Germany, but how does the newcomer stack up?
There is a new Honda Civic in town, and it’s decidedly premium in its execution and the features that it offers. The problem is that its price is nearing the R700 000 mark, which begs the question, does its offer better value than premium products from Audi and BMW?
Practicality
The Honda is the largest product here by a very small margin, however, its boot is fractionally smaller than the BMW and Audi at 419-litres, but overall, there is very little to choose between the three.
Performance
While these are not sports cars, they certainly look the part, so their performance is important. In the acceleration department, the Audi has the advantage, with the largest engine that also produces the most power and torque. The BMW is the slowest product here but is reasonably close to the Honda in terms of acceleration. When it comes to fuel consumption, all three products are efficient on paper, but it is the BMW that has the best figure.
