General Motors (GM) has released teaser images of the Cadillac Celestiq, an electric show car that, according to Cadillac, is “challenging the ultra-luxury space with the spirit of futurism and the avant-garde.”
The Celestiq is expected to be the next all-electric luxury vehicle in Cadillac’s fleet, and includes Cadillac’s signature lighting design and a host of other features that will surely turn heads.
“From unique proportions and a new effortless, sophisticated form language, to the precision and attention to detail, CELESTIQ is unlike anything on the road today,” said Magalie Debellis, manager, Cadillac Branded Advanced Design. “From its inception the CELESTIQ show car was crafted to reincarnate ‘the Standard of the World.’”

But how can Cadillac be sure it’s crafting such high standards? Well, one of the teaser images shows a door hinge that has “standard of the world” stamped on to a bolt. That’s one way to manifest something into existence, but we’ll have to wait and see. Cadillac expects to announce availability in late 2022, as well as more teasers throughout the summer. While the company hasn’t given a date for a full reveal, it is rumoured to make its debut in 2023.
First showed off at GM’s EV Day event in 2020, the Celestiq will serve as a companion model to the Cadillac Lyriq, which entered production this year, according to the Verve Times. Both vehicles will be built on GM’s Ultium electric vehicle platform, which also propels the GMC Hummer EV, Chevy Silverado EV, and BrightDrop delivery vehicles.
Additionally, the Celestiq will be the first to include GM’s new Ultra Cruise advanced driver-assist system, which the automaker claims will cover door-to-door assisted driving in 95 per cent of driving scenarios — and eventually including every paved road in the U.S. and Canada. However, it won’t come cheap. Back in 2020, Cadillac head Steve Carlisle confirmed the Celestiq’s six-figure price tag won’t start with a one, therefore we can only assume it’ll have a starting price in the $200,000s.
