If you plan on going to Goodwood this year, keep an eye out for a radical-looking, all-electric fastback concept.
Genesis has announced it plans to debut its X Speedium Coupe concept in-person at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is running from June 23 to 26.
The South Korean luxury automaker first revealed the X Speedium Coupe concept in April 2022 with a series of renders.
This concept is a fastback version of the notchback Genesis X Concept revealed in March 2021. It also bears some similarities to the Genesis Essentia concept from 2018.
It has an evolution of the brand’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ design philosophy and has the signature ‘Two Lines’ design language throughout.
Genesis also says the name Speedium was inspired by “the passion for motorsports felt by Genesis designers at the Korean racetrack”, referring to the Inje Speedium racing circuit.
The Genesis X Speedium Coupe concept is finished in Inje Green, also inspired by the South Korean race track.
Although Genesis hasn’t indicated whether the concept will reach production, it has recently filed a trademark for the name ‘Genesis X Speedium Coupe’ in Australia, among other countries.
As with the X concept from 2021, Genesis hasn’t revealed specifications for the X Speedium Coupe’s electric powertrain.
Along with the X Speedium Coupe concept, Genesis has announced it plans to show off the Electrified GV70 SUV at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed as well.
This will mark the first time the electric SUV will be seen in Europe. Australian media outlets were recently invited to a pre-production test drive of it and the Electrified G80 sedan.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV first debuted at the 2021 Guangzhou motor show, and is set to hit showrooms in the Australia during the third quarter of 2022.

As detailed in our preliminary price and spec article, the Genesis Electrified GV70 will be priced between $105,000 and $115,000 before on-road costs and will sit atop of the GV70 range.
It sports a 77.4kWh battery enabling a claimed driving range of 450km, capable of DC fast-charging at up to 350kW. Drive comes from a dual-motor setup outputting up to 360kW of power (boost mode) and 700Nm of torque.
Genesis claims the Electrified GV70 can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.
At the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed the South Korean luxury automaker plans to display the all-electric GV60, G70 Shooting Brake, G80 sedan and GV80 SUV.

“Both cars represent our firm commitment to establish ourselves as a completely zero emissions brand by 2030, and we can’t wait to share them and the wider Genesis family with visitors to the highly prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed.”
As previously detailed, Genesis has confirmed it won’t be introducing any new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles from 2025, and it’s aiming to go all-electric by 2030. Hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) vehicles seem to be no longer on the cards.
Genesis has also pledged to go fully carbon neutral by 2035.
