Inspired by the Speedium concept that debuted last year, the GV80 coupe concept has been confirmed for production
Genesis has revealed a new concept car in New York set for production, which has been inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept that was displayed in Sydney last year.
Officially called the GV80 Coupe Concept, Genesis says the new concept “combines the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamism of a sports car”.
The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept will use rear-wheel-drive architecture and features key styling cues such as an elongated bonnet, quad headlights, five-spoke forged alloy wheels, a carbon-fibre roof and a new Magma exterior colour.

Inside, the concept features a three-spoke steering wheel and black nappa and suede leather trim with plaid double stitching and orange highlights.
Genesis Australia has confirmed that the coupe will go into production, with a launch date to be advised at a later date.

Sports seats and plenty of orange trim feature in the concept’s interior
If the GV80 coupe concept is built upon, you guessed it, a GV80 SUV platform, then it is very likely that the coupe concept will be powered by the current 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that produces 279kW/530Nm.
However, the GV80 coupe concept could also use an electric powertrain borrowed from the electrified G80 sedan which utilises dual-motors to produce 272kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
Genesis hasn’t confirmed the powertrain, but it’ll likely be turbo V6 powered
Genesis says that its new GV80 coupe concept will be rear-wheel drive, so the brand could use one rear-mounted electric motor for the production version.
The news comes after Genesis last year unveiled its X Speedium Coupe Concept that features low, sleek looks and sports car styling.
