Hyundai’s noble brand Genesis is bringing the G70 onto the market for the first time as a station wagon or shooting brake – also in Europe and at fair prices.
Genesis launched a range of five models on the European market in the summer. To the SUV GV80 and the luxury class sedan G80 later followed by the G70 as limousine as SUV – and shortly as a commitment to the European market exclusively the G70 Shooting Brake. With the latter, Genesis wants to steal market share from the station wagon versions of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class. With a length of 4.69 meters, a width of 1.85 meters and a height of 1.40 meters with a wheelbase of 2.84 meters, the Korean is exactly in this segment.
The station wagon is based on the facelift model of the G70. The model shows the typical design elements of the brand. The headlights have the well-known double LED strips, the grill is wide and tapers towards the bottom. The estate version corresponds to the sedan up to the B-pillar. Behind it, the roof does not slope so quickly towards the rear, but rather forms a stronger D-pillar. The Shooting Brake end with its flat tailgate is shielded by a rather large roof spoiler integrated into the upper body line.
Four-cylinder as diesel and petrol
The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is being launched in Europe with two four-cylinder engines. The two-liter gasoline engine makes 197 or 245 hp – the former only in the base model. There is also a 2.2 liter diesel with 200 hp. All engines are linked to an eight-speed automatic as standard. As an alternative to rear-wheel drive, gasoline and diesel engines will also be available with all-wheel drive for a surcharge. Electrified drives are missing from the program.
