Ford South Africa has confirmed that the limited-edition Ranger Stormtrak will be made available locally.
This comes after the success of the limited-edition Ford Ranger Thunder in 2020.
“The Ranger Thunder was exceptionally well received when we launched it a year ago, proving unequivocally that there is strong demand for range-topping models that offer something different from the norm,” said Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa.
The Ranger Stormtrak is based on the Wildtrak bakkie, and Ford claims they set it apart by “elevating the style, sophistication, and exclusivity”.
Styling
The Stormtrak features a distinctive black mesh grille with red inserts, along with custom decals and black accents.
Additional black styling cues are found on the black roof rails and 18-inch gloss black alloy rims.
In the back, a power roller shutter is added for security, while an adjustable bed divider provides better usability.
The Stormtrak then comes in four colours, including the new “Lucid Red” as displayed in these images.
To further ensure that it is not mistaken for a Wildtrak, 3D Stormtrak logos are present on the lower section of the front doors and the tailgate.
Interior
The interior also gets upgraded to show that you are in a special-edition Ranger, with the leather seats trimmed with red stitching and Stormtrak logos.
Red stitching is also present on the dashboard, steering wheel, and gear lever.
In terms of media systems, the Stormtrak receives the same infotainment screen found in the Wildtrak – which features embedded navigation along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
This infotainment system allows for the owner to access numerous vehicle features from their phone, including remote and scheduled starts to either cool or heat the cabin.
Performance
Powered by a 2.0-litre, biturbo engine, the Ford Stormtrak produces 157kW and 500Nm. This allows the Stormtrak to tow up to 3,500kg.
This is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission which provides a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 10.5 seconds.
