The limited-edition Ford Ranger Stormtrak has gone on sale in South Africa at a starting price of R790,300 for the 4×2 model.
The 4×4 version will set you back R846,500.
The new Stormtrak is based on the current range-topping Wildtrak, but gains several distinct functional and styling elements to set it apart.
What’s new
On the outside, the Ranger Stormtrak is differentiated through a black mesh grille with red inserts, a black insert in the front bumper, black decals on the bonnets and doors, black roof rails, and gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels.
In addition, Stormtrak logos are found on the lower sections of the doors as well as the tailgate, and an exclusive Lucid Red exterior paint is available on this model.
Standard equipment on the bakkie also includes a powered roller shutter for the load box, with an adjustable bed divider kit.
“Compared to the manual roller shutter, which can be locked only in specific predetermined positions, the intelligent Power Roller Shutter can be securely locked in any position and has also been designed with an anti-pinch feature,” said Ford.
This shutter system can be controlled via buttons on the key fob, instrument panel, and in the load box itself.
Inside the cabin, the Stormtrak offers exclusive leather seats with red contrast stitching, illuminated scuff plates, automatic LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, and an 8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
A range of active and passive safety systems are included, too, comprising forward collision alert with autonomous emergency braking, lane keep alert and assist, and semi-autonomous parallel park assist.
Engine
Driving the Ford Ranger Stormtrak is a 2.0-litre, bi-turbo, diesel engine that produces 157kW and 500Nm.
The motor is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission and achieves a combined fuel consumption of 8.1l/100km.
The standard Ranger’s towing capacity of 3,500kg remains unchanged, along with the 800mm water wading depth and 230mm ground clearance.
