Those who are fans of the Ford GT will be no strangers to the last run of the incredible supercar, the Heritage Editions.
The latest iteration has been dubbed the Holman Moody Heritage Edition and it pays tribute to the company’s 1966 Le Mans 1-2-3 sweep, as well as the race team that developed the GT40 MK II’s brake setup which could slow the legendary race car from speeds well over 300 km/h.
Making its first public appearance alongside the 1966 Ford GT40 MKII chassis No. P/1016 at the 2022 New York International Auto Show, the ultra-limited-production supercar features an exclusive Holman Moody Gold exterior paint, contemporary touches of exposed carbon fibre, and signature Heritage Red and Oxford White accents.

“Inspired by one of the most well-known Ford GT40 race cars, this latest Ford GT honours the Holman Moody race team’s knowhow and ability to out-innovate global competitors.”
To give a bit of context, the Holman Moody team were vital to the success of the GT40 at Le Mans who, following the 1965 edition of the iconic race, and along with Shelby American were tasked with reworking the GT40 MKII. Having completed over 265 laps of their test circuit in January 1966, chassis No. P/1016 essentially became a laboratory on wheels while the teams worked to redesign brakes, suspension and tyre setups to be more competitive. They even trialled an experimental automatic transmission, but all with one goal in mind – to win at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In terms of the interior, the Holman Moody Edition features a smattering of carbon fibre which appears on the door sills, console and registers. There’s even a cleaver matte No. 5 roundel on the door panels. Ebony Alcantara-wrapped carbon fibre seats feature gold accent stitching, and embossed seating surfaces and head restraints carry a debossed GT logo. The instrument panel is wrapped in Ebony leather and Ebony Alcantara, while pillars and the headlining are wrapped exclusively in Ebony Alcantara. The steering wheel is finished in Ebony Alcantara with black stitching, while dual-clutch paddle shifters are finished in exterior-matching Holman Moody Gold.
To tie it all together, gold appliqués on the instrument panel, door register bezels and seat X-brace are paired with the matte carbon fibre on the registers, door sills, lower A-pillars and console.
Available for approved Ford GT customers, first deliveries of the Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition will take place from Spring 2022.
